Interstate 5 looking south towards Tumwater Hill (upper center), Tumwater Historical Park & Tumwater Falls Park (left center).
This nighttime shot (handheld) taken from the Capitol Boulevard overpass. Come to think of it I think I'll shoot a daytime shot from the same location for your comparison.
This is a neat photo. I am surprised you were allowed to stop and take the picture. It isn't allowed here and they have this wire cage around the overpasses to prevent people from throwing things down on the traffic. One preacher was hit by a chuck of concrete a kid threw and it damaged his brain, made him blind and ruined his life. So up went this heavy gage wire screen on both sides of the bridges.
Thanks for your visit to my birds blog and your comment about the Brown Thrush.
Abe: This bridge or overpass is a major road in the area. Besides the one lane each way there are sidewalks on both sides. Unfortunately five people have jumped to their deaths from this bridge in the last 10 years or so.
Small City: I should take more night shots too, and glad you liked the Mima Mounds story.
Hilda & Jacob: I'll get that daylight shot very soon, I promise.
Lois: Thanks for looking.
Frank: You know it might be fun to take the same shot with film and compare. Maybe I'll do that one of these days.
it's a great night photo!! I've wanted to do a similar one on the highway here, but our overpass doesn't have a sidewalk! i need to find a different spot, i guess. yours turned out excellent!
brian: Thanks Brian. If you can't find one with sidewalks put on your ninja outfit and be as stealthy as you can. Pick a time where there's not much traffic, park close, shoot and run.
Oh, boy, do I love this photo! Yippee!

Neat shot. I have to take more night shots---I seem to only get blackness. I don't know why. I will learn.
ReplyDeleteThose Mima Mounds are most interesting. I remember reading about them years ago in the National Geographic. Those and others too. MB
Yes please. I'm wondering why the sides are sooo dark!
ReplyDeleteLove this night time photo!
Night shots are really tough. Film cameras were easier to manipulate and capture lights and movement. I think you nailed this one.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been that the overpass upon which you stood to take this shot was lacking vehicles...either that or you were a very quick shooter...
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, this is quite excellent; I would have guessed you used a tripod! And it would be fun to see a daytime shot, too.
Thanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteLynette: Thanks for the "Yippee!"

ReplyDeleteVery cool, fun to shoot at night. It is more challenging, but very rewarding.
ReplyDeletePretty picture. I wonder where all those cars are dashing to.
