This past Sunday, after we left the beauty of the conservatory and all those flowers we took a drive to Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. If the name sounds slightly familiar it's because I've posted a couple of photos from there such as this one from the dog park there, or this one showing part of the old mental hospital. This time we were simply taking a drive there but once our seven year old daughter saw the playground she wanted to stop, and you know it didn't make any difference that it was thirty some degrees with the wind blowing like crazy. We parked and watched her run off to climb and slide and just about anything else you could do at a playground. This really is a wonderful place. Click here to see who designed it.

Amazing that children were actually allowed to help with the design of a playground. Unusual concept. LOL It sure looks like fun. MB
Well worth a car stop and the risk of freezing.
The Rotary club is still involved in good projects I can see. We were always into something here and some were neat projects. I like this one very much. Nice photo too.
My grandchildren would love that place!
I'm with your daughter! ;-)
Nice photo of this engine. We have a park in Astoria now built by the local businesses that has some similar types of things to play on. It's outstanding. How could a kid resist? I hope you had just bought your Starbucks for the road so you could stay warm while she frolicked. These days have been a little chilly even for me.
it is funny how the cold never bothered me as a kid.. i would always go out without a coat. now i have to be bundled up in several layers with a stocking cap, gloves and a big coat! =)
Stop the car, child needs to play! I am always amazed by the ability of children to keep warm despite the weather conditions.
It was no problem stopping. How could you say no to a kid that wasn't going to let the cold stop her.
Thanks everyone!
Cool! Looks a bit like Thomas the Train -:) Good for you for letting her run and play, despite the weather. Sure hope it begins to thaw soon!!!
Fun!
My nieces are like that too. Then complain loudly when my sister lowers the thermostat in their home by a few degrees to save on heating costs. ;)
I like this photo a lot! WE've performed in Lakewood too in years past. Ah, I'm starting to get homesick.
