I was going to say it looks like a big river. Then I looked it up on Google maps and see it is an enormous bay. I guess the land to the east of it was reclaimed from the bay.
Your pigeons brings back some memories. I grew up killing pigeons in barns to eat. I still remember those trying times when I go under and overpass and see some pigeons roosting up there.
One must embiggen this picture to get the full effect. It's a great shot, Don! Looks like a chilly morning in down Olympia with enough color in that sky to promise a bit of warmth later on...
We do live in a beautiful area, don't we? I live in Seattle, by the way! Love your captures. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteI'd hate to see the area below which they roost!

Sylvia K: Now why didn't I figure that out sooner. DUH! Thank you for the kind comments and I'll be visiting.
ReplyDeleteSmall City Scenes: There'll be no eye pecking around here I hope. That was a pretty scary movie oh so many years ago.
Linnea W: Yep, they all move as one.
AB: It really is a neat area to just go walking around. So much to shoot.
Rune: Thank you.
Abraham Lincoln: I'm sure we all seem pretty spoiled compared to some of the times you've seen in your life.
Jacob: You're right, it was pretty chilly then especially down by the water.
Very nice composition. As far as I'm concerned, as long as they stay away from my windowsills, they can fly where they like!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo - the birds look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
