Ruby Tuesday - Spring at the Conservatory


Last weekend we made another trip north to Tacoma. Every couple of months or so we visit the Seymour Conservatory at Wright Park. This time when we walked in it was more fragrant than I ever remember it being before. There were tulips, hyacinth, daffodils and much much more.
I thought this shot would make a nice contribution to Ruby Tuesday.

    Tulips don't smell much to me but I can smell other flowers. Nice shot.

    You asked how close I was when I took the pic of the drone fly. About 8 inches. Maybe even less but that is about as close as most macros get for me. I can't bend very well.

    Nice Ruby Tuesday contribution! The colors are fantastic and it's tack-sharp.

    Which reminds me that I was reading Ken Rockwell's material on the D40 last night...that's his favorite camera - on his website he's showing a massive poster made from a D40 picture!

    What a fantastic color!

    You know, I've never seen tulips open like this. They don't grow in our climate and since the cut flowers have to be imported, I just find them way too expensive. They look so different from their closed version. I was actually about to ask if these were tulips when I saw your label. :)

    Excellent. I love the inside shot of the Tulip. Perfect for ruby tuesday.
    The Tulips are about halfway up in the Valley. It will be fantastic in about 2 weeks. the daffs are coming out now. MB

    Jacob: Yep, I'm pretty familiar with Ken's extensive website. It's funny. Some people love him, some people hate him (or at least some of his opinions.) One thing is for sure, he shares a ton of knowledge with us Nikon shooters. My best friend turned me on to Ken several years ago. It actually was his information that made me choose the D40. I've never regretted it once.
