I decided to give you a look at another one of the sights we saw at Watershed Park this past Sunday. I suppose I could have posted another scenic shot of trails and trees but why not treat you to one of the living creatures of the forest. This is Scaphinotus Angusticollis, better known as the Ground Beetle. He was just sitting there minding his own business. He didn't seem to mind the photo op too much.
Nice find. You must have 20/20 vision. No way I would've seen this critter.
ReplyDeletevery cool looking. great find and good capture. MB
ReplyDeleteI see him. or her. I thought the green was him and that the green was decorations he put or stuck on himself. lol
ReplyDeleteI should go back to bed and get up again.
He's is a cute little critter! I enlarged the pic so I could see him better.
ReplyDeleteA microscopic urchin! How did you ever see it?
ReplyDeleteBut what gets me is your reeling off its scientific name! Do you really know all this stuff? Sheesh! I hardly remember my own name. ;-)
Wait, maybe that's not it's name. How would I know? Heh. Heh.
Cute shot! And you are one very smart cookie!
Can you hear my scream. Uggh!
ReplyDeleteAwww come on. Isn't he a cute little guy??
ReplyDeleteAbe: Have one more cup of coffee, then everything will be okay.
Jacob: No way, I don't know that stuff either. It's my wife that diligently hunts down the info. Ny technical term would have been "BUG".
Julie: Careful, I think it made an aggressive move. :-O
Well, he's a star now!
ReplyDeleteNice little beetle! And nice photo. I'm glad you showed it to us. I was also impressed that you knew the name. Now we know your secret! It's a great way to learn, so thanks!
