Living in the Olympia area since 1994 I've been to most of the local parks and trails. There aren't many that my wife hasn't been to either, but today we took 2 of our 3 kids and went for a walk through Watershed Park. This is a place we will definitely be returning to. A nice clear trail winds through lush green old growth forest. There are several foot bridges that cross small creeks & the moss hangs from many of the trees. As you look off to the side of the trail you see trillium, fern, skunk cabbage and plenty of Gandonerma Applanatum. It took us about an hour to walk the trail at a leisurely pace, and that includes stopping for numerous photos. This truly is an area that besides the trail itself has been left in it's wonderfully natural state. For myself and my family this shot from our walk is our contribution to Scenic Sunday.

A very beautiful park. Goes to show why Washington is called the Evergreen State. MB
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful and the link I visited gave a lot more details. It must be very special to get the Supreme Court ruling protecting it from logging. Wow. I am impressed.
ReplyDeleteWow this place is beautiful! The picture looks like a scene from a movie.
ReplyDeleteAlmost as good as making a journey to the Olympic Rainforest ... yet without the driving time! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteTruly northwest gorgeous. I'll have to make a visit some warm fall day.
ReplyDeleteAwwww....we use to go there almost weekly!!! Beautiful! An almost forgotten treasure for us...here in Houston!
ReplyDeleteThe leaning tree. I bet you could write a book about it. How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone, and thank you. This park is only about ten minutes from where we live and we have driven by a number of times. We can't believe ourselves that we had never stopped before. I'll probably post another photo or two from here in the near future.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't get any better than this! What a gorgeous shot. And what a great place to "get away from it all." I hope you'll be showing us more of the photos you took walking through here!

ReplyDeleteNice old tree, I love the way it leans over and the people will have to duck to get around it.
