About a half hour north of Olympia sits the city of Lakewood where I grew up. Actually at the far end of this lake right about in the middle of the photo. This photo was taken from the bridge that crosses the lake. You'll learn a little more about the lake and see the bridge pictured here. As a kid, I boated, rafted, swam and fished this lake, usually with my best friend John. We would pack a lunch and raft from home to the bridge where we'd tie up. Then we'd put on our masks and go diving to see all the treasure that had been thrown off the bridge. Old appliances, stolen bicycles, you name it. As for this shot, it's a trip down memory lane, and our contribution to Watery Wednesday.

What a wonderful contribution...beautiful watery scene with fun memories! What a great place to grow up. I wonder if today's kids have as much fun on that lake as you had...
Lovely landscape.
that is beautiful.. my Brother in Law lives in Lakewood, retired from Army..
Beautiful photos!!
Super shot and great memories. It's the best growing up on the water. I grew up at and in Green Lake. We seemed to live there. MB
What a gorgeous and perfect place to grow up in!
Now I feel bad for the kids in cities (like Manila!).
What a nice place to grow up and such fabulous memories! The water is an incredible shade of blue and that sky is just amazing.
Thanks all. Good memories for sure.
Jan's: It really was a nice place to grow up. A lot has changed there though.
MB: Green Lake, another nice area indeed.
Hilda: I tend to agree.
Thank you for a lovely walk down memory lane!
Great memories! I have several friends who live on or around Gravelly Lake and my son rowed crew on American Lake. (And yes, you're right about the rejoinder to my rhetorical question about afts. . .)
Meri: All very familiar areas for me.
Okay, I'll move there! How cold does it get in the winter?
Lovely shot!!!
very beautiful, so picturesque! and to think there's a trash dump under the water ;-)
