Remember Whensday - A Boy & His Dog

Okay, I'm going to take another chance here and post an old photo of myself again. This one must be from about 1968 or 1969. I would have been eleven or twelve at the time and posing here with our English Bulldog Meg. She was such a wonderful friendly playful dog. She loved to go for rides in my old chevy, and I don't think she missed one of my baseball or soccer games. Judging by the ultra sharp clothes I was wearing here I would say I was either on my way to church or some special event. Okay, feel free to print a copy for your dartboard now.
This blast from the past is my contribution to "Remember Whensday."

  1. Nice nostalgic shot, both of the boy and the dog. So, when are those hairstyles coming back into fashion?

  2. It just dawned on me that you are younger than my oldest daughter and the same age as my son, Chris. I like you dog.

I need to get another dog. My wide forbid it as she doesn't want to go through the training again or the trips to the vet or the death part but still I do.

  3. Is it just the age of the photo, or are those pants really purple?? Love the haircut too. ;)

Very sweet photo. Meg sounds like a young boy's perfect companion.

  4. Well, Mr. Don, sir (I think I'm going to have to start calling you that, now!), you do look spiffy, sir. You were 12, you say. Maybe heading out for a date?

Thanks for sharing. Great fun. I think I was wearing those same clothes about 20 years earlier!

  6. Small City Scenes: Awww shucks.

AB: Bad haircuts will never go away for young boys.

    Unseen: Thank you.

Abe: I noticed before that I'm pretty close to a couple of your kids. Get another dog. They make us happy, and that's good for your health.

Hilda: I think they were maroon. It's probably the age of the photo. Thank you.

Jacob: Spiffy would have been the word wouldn't it? Not a date, but I'm sure you grew up like I did, dressing up to go out somewhere, either church or dinner.

Lois: Well thank you. Meg was short for Nutmeg She was the runt of the litter and our friend the breeder called her puny. We didn't care for that too much.

  9. I saw this photo on the city daily thumbnail page and kept staring at it because it reminded me of a photo of my dad. The photo of my dad was taken somewhere around 1940 - 1942 and he was in exactly the same pose with is dog, a fox terrier. I wonder where that old photo is.

I also grew up with an English bulldog name Chris. She was also full of fun and loved to go for rides.

    Thanks for the memories.

  12. This is great! I have to say I get disappointed when my own photos change color over time, but . . . I LOVE the purple pants! Come to think of it there's quit a bit of purple here. In your photo, I like it :) That's really a photo to treasure with your pal the wonderful dog, too.
