Well, here we go again. I had another photo in mind for tonight's post, but "guess who" somehow persuaded.....er.....threatened me into showing off one her early birthday presents. Our oldest daughter is going to be 15 this coming Sunday, and like many girls her age couldn't wait for the Twilight movie "New Moon" to come out. Little did she know that her conniving parents (and a good friend) conspired and purchased her ticket months ago. We managed to say nothing until a few hours before she was to go. She then proceeded to make all sorts of teenage girly squeely noises. She complained of rapid heart beat and breathing difficulties. She even had to stop eating her dinner she was so nervous. She was though, very very happy. One more thing you have to understand. The movie starts at midnight and she does have school tomorrow. (heh-heh). You know, I'll bet that doesn't really matter to her though. She was very appreciative. Anyway, Mom and I hope she has a wonderful time at the movie.
And, for you closet fans.....she's "Team Edward", because Jacob doesn't sparkle!
We're in opposite camps then. Love Jacob and his entire pack. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she'll have a great evening! But I hope she'll be able to focus in school the next day too. Haha!
I am going to avoid ALL malls — and their surroundings — this weekend!
What a nice thing to do. And your 15-year old is not much different than our youngest and our oldest.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest is 37 and she took the day off of work to go to a matinee of the movie here. She seems pretty excited too.
The oldest is 53 and she is off from work with a serious deep vein thrombosis and wanted to go to the movie too. She is trying to figure out some way to see it.
I guess I'm living in a bubble, because I know nothing about the Twilight books or movies except that they are extremely popular! I hope your daughter had a good time and that it wasn't too hard for her getting up for school this morning!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, funny post which reminds of those years when our daughters were young...
ReplyDeleteBut, what the heck is this about Jacob not sparkling. I read Hilda's comment and she loves me!
Sheesh! My heart is broken! ;-))
P.S. Would you guess I don't have a clue from "New Moon," old moon, half moon, blue moon or Team Edward?
Twilight is very big here too. I tried to read the first book but got so bored that I stopped after about 50 pages. But then again I'm over 40! ;-) I don't count, cool tee-shirt, miss!
ReplyDeletei, too, have missed out on the whole twilight phenom. i sometimes attribute my lack of interest in age - but from some of your previous commenters, maybe i'm just making excuses and need to get out more =)
ReplyDeleteSo, what time DID Ms. Team Edward get home? Was she in a dreamlike state and unable to sleep?
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love and cherish the small ways you can be a part of a child's life. Their excitement and happiness is worth absolutely everything else they can throw at us. You are great parents!!
I check this site periodically for all the beautiful pictures from the area and this time, was surprised and delighted to see a shout out to Twilight. I, too, am a fan and I agree with your daughter - Team Edward all the way (and it is not just a teen thing, I'm 34!) :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat post. I hope your daughter has a blast.
ReplyDeleteI have all the books and read them as soon as they came out. Of course the first one was the best.
Does your daughter have all the books? I would love for her to have these if not. Let me know. MB
Sounds like one very happy daughter and some parents who know how to make it happen. I formerly knew less about this phenomenon than Lois did.
ReplyDeleteWow, we've got a lot of Twilight fans out there, and they're not all 15 yr old girls.
ReplyDeleteJacob: I'm not sure, but there's a small chance that there's another Jacob out there. Even younger and studlier than you. ;-}
Frank: She slept a little longer than she was supposed to. Oh well, what the heck! We appreciate the compliment too. It's funny, teenagers don't come with an owner's manual. It's not always easy, but you can't quit.
Jolene: Thank you for stopping by from time to time. Oh, and 34 means it wasn't that long ago.
Small City Scenes: Thank you so very much for the offer. I think we've got it handled on this end though.
I know nothing about the Twilight series but I can see from the T-shirt that the film has been cast with those moody young boys that might get a young girl's heart palpitating.
