Scenic Sunday - Restoration in Progress

A view of a portion of the Nisqually Delta. What you see is part of a major reclamation project. Every one of those white pipes you see is a hand planting of some indigenous form of vegetation. I first told you about this project back in April 2009. In the distance you can see the Olympic Mountain Range.

  1. It's a very nice photo. It shows a groundbreaking project. Nice to see that in a time where woods are felled more and more.

  3. Funny. I see this photo and it reminds me of a military cemetery. Kind of an erie feeling really. Especially when you realize it is about "rebirth" and not death.
    A great landscape capture.

  5. Thanks for this photo of the progress. It's heartening to see an area coming back to its early incarnation.

  6. I'm glad to see they're making an attempt to re-vegetate the area. Now let's hope it doesn't flood and float away.

  7. Thanks everyone.
You know when they started this project we thought that the walking trails were all going to be flooded. As it turns out they are keeping some of the trail and extending the existing boardwalk. I can't wait to go there this summer with my camera and tripod. It's a great place for photographing birds.
