Finishing up this series from The McLane Creek Nature Trail is Mr Wood Duck. For a little more info on this colorful and popular creature click here. I believe that link is one of Abraham Lincoln's favorite sources for bird and fowl factoids. Here's looking A-choo Abe!
He's so regal and colorful! The ripples and reflection in the water are wonderful! I'm gonna have to mosey on up to that park!
ReplyDeleteAren't Wood Ducks so beautiful. All those colors just perfectly placed. I have only seen one Wood Duck at my pond--even. But I don't look all the time so I hope they stop over occasionally.
ReplyDeleteVery excellent shot. MB
PS. a real good small book with real pictures and just enough facts is the National Audubon field guide to the Pacific Northwest. I am in it all the time.
Beautiful! I love Wood Ducks. They are a true creation masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteSo colourful it looks like a "painted war duck"!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous capture! They are quite illusive and shy.
ReplyDeleteThat little duck is so pretty that it almost doesn't look real!
ReplyDeleteSuperb colors!
ReplyDeleteWhow!! What funny and colorful bird=)

Lovely photo; he's so sharp and clear. Looks like one of those wooden puzzles with interlocking pieces!
ReplyDeleteWilderness-challenged me thought it was a wooden duck. Duh. But you have to give me a little leeway – his colors are so fantastic, they look like they're painted on!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis duck seemed about as relaxed as can be with us a few feet away. He was swimming with a Canadian Goose and they seemed like long lost buddies.
Not sure I've ever seen one up close! Beautiful shot of a gorgeous duck!
ReplyDeletelucky duck, indeed! Here's lookin a-choo, Abe! That's so funny! LoL!
