Bird's Eye View

Thursday, January 14, 2010

I don't think this Cormorant has to worry too much about sharing his perch. I don't believe there's room for two up there.
This shot was taken at the same location as this shot. I just moved up to the gate.

That's a great shot! Amazing how birds can perch on such tiny places!

What a neat shot. Amazing that you got the whole pic in the same frame.
It certaintly is a single perch. MB

That's quite something. I've never seen a cormorant up that high. Ours like the low pilings.

I grew up in Corona, California (not the beach town, Corona Del Mar). It was paradise when my ancestors arrived in 1886, and it was still pretty when I was growing up, with orange trees, lots of open spaces, and Victorian houses. Now it's an asphalt jungle, although parts of it are very expensive. The reltives who still live there get on my case when I say how much I hate it now :)

I'll take your word for it being a cormorant -- a bird I have never seen. It has very nice surroundings.

  6. Hilda Says:

Fantastic perch he has there. Perfect for the awesome view (and some peace).

Excellent composition...the bird, the colors, the pilings, the sky - it all works very well, Don!

That is a pretty shot! So much blue and the bird makes it perfect.

  9. ~Cheryl: I know I wouldn't last very long up there.

Day4plus: He looks quite proud to be up there doesn't he?

tapirgal: Interesting. I'm not sure I know where Corona is. I'd imagine Astoria is a far cry from living there though.

Flohbock: Thank you, and and thank you for following along.

Abraham Lincoln: Now you've got me doubting myself Abe. Boy, if I'm wrong somebody tell me.

Hilda: He really does have the good view.

Jacob: I appreciate that sir. How are things? Hopefully calming down a little each day.

Lois: Thank you Lois. I was surprised how much blue there was myself.

    Bird's eye view for sure.

To answer your question about the market, I will be there on Monday ... but NOT on Sunday. Hope to see you if you manage to bet up this way.

  11. Ugh, a tiny cormorant! Fantastic shot of the sentinel in blue.

  12. Super shot, very nice of the bird to pose for you up there.
