Today it was time for another road trip south to Portland Oregon. Our oldest daughter had never been to Powell's City of Books, the bestest book store in the northwest. She was amazed to say the least. This shot was taken on the top floor of Powell's parking garage.

Very graphic color!
Powells is always a must stop when I'm in or near Portland!
Interesting. Now I must say that is a very yellow yellow.
Let's see the books. MB
It's such a great book store, but I have to say, I almost never go because it's such a pain to get there and park. Try having to stop halfway up that ramp at the entrance with a stick shift. Never again!
I had forgotten about Powell's bookstore but have bought books from them in the past through the Internet. I love to read and they had the titles I wanted back then. Now, I get a lot from Strand in NYC which has 18 miles of new and used books. I like blocks of color and this yellow fits that like - a lot.
Yay Powell's! I'm glad you had a nice trip down there. The pearl district is full of great things to do. I've never really noticed this parking structure inside the building - I usually park underneath the Whole Foods. I have been lost in the parking underground more than once in the Pearl. Anyway, lovely colorful shot!
What bright colors! I guess they didn't want you drivers to miss seeing it. ;)
Where's the picture of the bookstore?? How can you write about a trip to the bookstore and not show it to us??
Can you tell I'm a book fiend? :)
I've not heard of Powell's, but you can't beat a good bookstore, especially if it's the "bestest" in the area!
Great shot; great color; great lines.
There must definitely be only one way to the store, though!
P.S. I think your Heron is heronizing the area looking for his heron's harem...(Sorry, I know that doesn't make a bit of sense, but...try to have a good day anyway! :-)))
Those are some bright colors for a parking garage!
At least it's clear for anyone to see!
Chuck Pefley: Thank you. I almost think it's a bit much to tell you the truth.
Small City Scenes: Next time I'll get a shot or two of the inside.
tapirgal: I do know what you mean. That really is pretty steep. The first time we went we parked in the lot across the street right by that really odd piece of public art. I'll have to get a shot of that too one of these days.
Abraham Lincoln: Nice to know you're familiar with Powell's. I'll have to look up Strand.
Yolanda: I knew you'd probably know this one too. The hardest part is what not to leave with.
Hilda: Okay, guilty. I should have shown the outside of the store too. I'm sure we'll be going back within a month or two.
Jacob: My wife and oldest daughter are avid readers so whenever I take them they're in heaven.
Lois: Yes they are. Not much chance of forgetting where you're car is.
cieldequimper: And then some!
What a great photo! I'm afraid I'll never get up there to take one like it, though, not if I have to drive up that ramp! I turned in there once, looked up, told the young man that I'd make a BIG mistake and asked him to help me back out of there, please!
Thanks so much for your visits and comments. I really appreciate them.
Lynette: Thank you too. We do greatly appreciate you taking the time to stop by and say Hi.
