Say It Isn't So
About a half hour north of Olympia is the city of Lakewood. It's where I grew up, went to school & worked. My mother still lives there. The photo above is of Lakewood City Hall. The reason I posted this photo is that the Lakewood Police Department suffered an unimaginable tragedy today. This morning four officers met at a local coffee shop as they often do to share information and start their day. A man walked in and shot and killed those four officers. Not only is Lakewood in shock, but the whole surrounding Puget Sound area as well. Information and updates have dominated the news today. Please join us in taking a minute to think of these officer's families.

A True Custom

Sometimes, through my job, opportunities come along now and then that you just don't pass up. This evening was one of those times. After work my boss & I took a drive to Lakewood, about 30 minutes north of Olympia. Classic Reflection Coachworks was holding a hospitality night and tour of their amazing shop. Most of you are not familiar with this company. Simply put you take them your 1998-2004 Corvette & they will turn it into the car of your dreams. The design is cool, the quality of the materials & workmanship second to none. Check out the above link to their website, then start saving your pennies.

Things Change

North of Olympia, in the city of Lakewood is Ft Steilacoom Park. The park lies across the street from Western State Hospital, a well known Mental Hospital. This is a portion of the ruins of the Hill Ward. I actually took this photo in the summer of 2007. If you click here, you'll see the changes that have taken place here.

Siamese Twins

Tonight I dug a photo out of the archives. This was taken on a sunny summer day last year at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. I love the multi colored silos.

Fried Egg Look-Alike

This afternoon we headed north to Lakewood to take our two dogs to the off-leash dog park. Afterward at one of the stops we made, we spotted what I believe are wild roses. (correct me if I am wrong.) I am used to seeing the pink ones along the freeway, but I don't see too many white ones. It was in the 80's today and it looks like it's going to hit 90 in a few days.
