About a half hour north of Olympia is the city of Lakewood. It's where I grew up, went to school & worked. My mother still lives there. The photo above is of Lakewood City Hall. The reason I posted this photo is that the Lakewood Police Department suffered an unimaginable tragedy today. This morning four officers met at a local coffee shop as they often do to share information and start their day. A man walked in and shot and killed those four officers. Not only is Lakewood in shock, but the whole surrounding Puget Sound area as well. Information and updates have dominated the news today. Please join us in taking a minute to think of these officer's families.

Well, this is a gorgeous photograph...but the story is not good. I read about it earlier...can't hardly imagine such a thing. Is the world getting crazier, or what?
I read about this earlier, when I got home from the hospital. It's heartbreaking, awful news.
Thank you for stopping by to see the pie and read about Mama's progress. Y'all let me know next time you'll be in town--we'll all go to 3DD for dinner!
Beautiful and lovely shot ! Simply nice and beautiful !! Unseen Rajasthan
That's horrible. I've been working and had not heard the news. It's just sick. I feel for everyone.
how awful. i certainly wish i could say is isn't so. sending positive thoughts to the families of all involved...
Like Jacob, my first thought was 'beautiful photo of a beautiful building!' But after reading your commentary, my tummy is now in knots. That's just awful! I hope they caught the murderer. My prayers for all four police officers' family and loved ones.
I saw this story on the news. It is so heartbreaking. I used to be married to a police officer and one of the saddest experiences of my life was attending the funeral of an officer killed in the line of duty.
I just read about it on CNN. What a tragedy! Even worse when these things happen in a familiar environ ment. My heart is with the families.
It even made the news on the radio here.
Thanks for posting this. My heart goes out to all the families.
It seems to be an all too common event nowadays. WHY!!! Let's turn that trend around. MB
Thank all of you for your kind comments. I think everyone around this area is just stunned. If I heard correctly, there are now nine children that either lost a father or mother in this incident. Not only that, but this comes on the heels of another local police officer who was gunned down within the last couple of weeks.
Again, our hearts go out to those who lost a loved one, a freind, a fellow officer.
Unbelievable what has happened in Lakewood. Such a tragedy. So many lives changed forever....
