As I was looking back through some old photos this evening trying to decide which one to post this one caught my eye. Number one, for it's age it's still in pretty fair shape (ahem...like someone I know), and number two, I noticed it's
another old photo of me holding a camera. If you look close you can tell it's an old box camera. The man in the photo is my Uncle Bob and you can see my
dad's Packard in the background. I believe I was about five when this was taken in Spokane Washington, my home town.
For more nostalgic photos take a trip over to Remember Whensday.

When I was a kid my family lived in Spokane which is in eastern Washington. In 1962, during the Seattle World's Fair we moved to Tacoma. The next year one of the things we did was to take a drive south to Olympia to see the Capitol. Things were a bit different then. Not only were we able to tour the Capitol Building we were able to take the walk all the way to the top of the dome. I can still remember the clanking of those metal steps and how tired our legs were by the time we reached the top. After the earthquake of 1965 they stopped allowing visitors to go up to the top. This photo is of myself and my sister. You might remember her from
this previous post. Love the suit and tie huh?

So, I couldn't just post a photo of myself with my camera gear without showing you where I got the bug. This was my father Don Sr. As you can see this was taken in November of 1958 which means he would have been 29 yrs old. Since I was born in August of 1957 I would have been 1 yr & 3 months old. We were living in Spokane Washington (where I was born). Dad brought out the camera & light meter often to capture memories. He was always good at remembering to photograph everything from sports to first day at school to birthdays to simple days out in the yard. Dad passed away in 1981. Looking through the boxes of photos I really appreciate the memories he remembered to record.
P.S. This was scanned from a fairly small photo. I didn't even realize it was slightly fuzzy until I scanned it.
