Watery Wednesday - Holiday Boats on Parade

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

After work I had to run downtown for something. Since I was only a few blocks from Budd Inlet I thought I'd stop by and take a few shots of the boats with their Christmas lights aglow. I got lucky. The boats were lit up and slowly cruising the waters in parade style. Not all of my photos came out. This was one of the better ones. I definitely need some practice when it comes to settings at night. I think this qualifies as my Watery Wednesday shot.

  1. OH this is a wonderful photo and so clear. The few times I've taken night photos, they always come out blurry.
    Cheers.

  2. That is very good. I have a real problem with night shots. And Christmas or any lights just never come out. I applaud your effort. MB

I am glad it turned out. Mine probably wouldn't.

I think it turned out great! I love night shots, but haven't played around much with the new camera at night yet... I am really enjoying it though! I just need more time to get out and practice :)

I think you did a great job on this night shot! It's really pretty. It sort of reminds me of when I was a kid and my Dad used to take us to see the aircraft carriers at Mayport Naval Base near Jacksonville all decorated with lights for Christmas, except they were a lot bigger!

I think this tells the story very well. It's fun to see the decorations at this time of the year. Thanks for sharing.

Watery Wednesday for sure. You did well, Don.

I think you'd enjoy the annual Christmas boat parade in Fort Lauderdale...it's mostly a parade of yachts all decked out ... quite impressive.

  8. BlossomFlowerGirl: Thank you, and thanks for stopping by.

Small City Scenes: I'd rather be lucky than good any day! Thanks MB.

Abe: Don't cut yourself short. You know what you're doing Abe. I have great respect for your ability.

brian stout: Like I said, just keep shooting and shooting. You'll get comfortable with it in no time.

Lois: Aircraft carriers! I'll bet it takes a month to string the lights on one of those.

    Gwendolyn: I appreciate that.

Jacob: I'll bet that parade of yachts is really something. If you go make sure and make a post out of it.
