Fiber Optic Tree?

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

A few days ago as we were walking through downtown Olympia we spotted this beautiful Mimosa or Silk Tree. It seems we caught it at the right time as it was just covered with clusters of these blossoms. To learn more about this showy tree click here.

    Great photo! This looks like something out of a glossy magazine. The bright color was very welcome and the flowers are beautiful and unusual.

    Absolutely gorgeous. And "fiber optic" is a good way to describe it!
    I don't think we have any of those in our area. Wish we did, though!

  3. I really like the Mimosa tree. Not too many of them around this area although I have seen a few. MB

    The mimosa blooms are one of my favorites and we have them growing wild all over town. They bloom a little earlier in the summer here though. This one is gorgeous!

  6. It looks nothing like what we call mimosa in France yet it's very pretty and I love your title!

    I didn't realize that mimosa blooms up there. I thought it was strictly southern! They always smell so heavenly too.

  8. tapirgal: Magazine huh? Thank you.

    Jacob: That is what it immediately reminded me of.

    Lois: I noticed they seem to be more prevalent where you are.

    MB: This is the first one I have noticed around here. I'll have to keep my eyes open now.

    brian: You can have my drink after one of your killer workouts. ;-}

    ciel: Thank you.

    Rambling: Thanks for stopping by, and I didn't even take time to smell it. I will next time we go by there though.

    Yes, it does remind you of those wonderfully kitschy fibre-optic lamps.
