Saturday June 6th was the 20th annual Lacey Rotary "Duck Dash". This event is not only fun for people of all ages, but participants have a chance to win various prizes including a new Mustang. Besides the goodies, the money raised from duck sponsorship goes to some very worthy causes. This photo is of a few unfortunate ducks that got trapped along the route. You can read more about the Duck Dash here.
I was in Rotary for many years and our biggest event that raised the most money was an annual golf event. I had never seen a duck derby before today and suspect it might be more profitable than golf as more people could participate.
This reminds me of the children's book by Eric Carle, "10 Little Rubber Ducks". The ducks go awry after they fall off the import boat they are on...maybe these are a couple of those lost duckies!
This is our first blog, a daily (whenever possible) photo blog of our state capitol and surrounding area. Most photos were taken by me, however my wife will sneak one in from time to time.
This is such a fun idea for worthwhile causes. How did your duck fare?
Unfortunately my wife & I had to work on Saturday so we didn't make it there until after the festivities were over.
Cute, and worthwhile cause. Love the soft focus.
Quack, quackkkk!!! MB

Oh dear, looks like their dashing is done!
"Stuck Duck". Is that a new delicacy?
