A Look Back on Watery Wednesday

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

About a half hour north of Olympia sits the city of Lakewood where I grew up. Actually at the far end of this lake right about in the middle of the photo. This photo was taken from the bridge that crosses the lake. You'll learn a little more about the lake and see the bridge pictured here. As a kid, I boated, rafted, swam and fished this lake, usually with my best friend John. We would pack a lunch and raft from home to the bridge where we'd tie up. Then we'd put on our masks and go diving to see all the treasure that had been thrown off the bridge. Old appliances, stolen bicycles, you name it. As for this shot, it's a trip down memory lane, and our contribution to Watery Wednesday.

What a wonderful contribution...beautiful watery scene with fun memories! What a great place to grow up. I wonder if today's kids have as much fun on that lake as you had...

  5. Super shot and great memories. It's the best growing up on the water. I grew up at and in Green Lake. We seemed to live there. MB

Now I feel bad for the kids in cities (like Manila!).

Great memories! I have several friends who live on or around Gravelly Lake and my son rowed crew on American Lake. (And yes, you're right about the rejoinder to my rhetorical question about afts. . .)
