Monochrome Weekly - Are You Out of Your Gourd?

Monday, October 19, 2009

Fall is in the air. The temperatures have dropped and the rain has started to fall. The trees are some of the brightest colors I've ever seen. Soon strange looking creatures will come knocking at the door wanting us to contribute heavily to their parent's dental bills. Yep, Halloween is just around the corner. Everywhere you look there will be witches, ghosts and rubber skeletons. Are you prepared?

Great assortment of gourds. Nice work with B&W and contrasts.

Excellent subject for monochrome. I like how the patterns pop out and the light/shadows are a nice contrast. Can't believe Halloween is just around the corner. Time flies. By the way, I'd love to look you up if I ever have time when I'm heading up to Anacortes. I'm usually in such a rush to get up there though and then when I get there, I don't want to leave!

I like this in bw, but probably wouldn't have occurred to to me to do it that way.

So nice of you to help the neighborhood dentist out -:))

There is a small American community here, really have to find out if they will celebrate Halloween. B and W: excellent choice!

That is a very good image.

Neat idea in black and white. The dentists are proud I am sure. Our trick or treat is this Saturday.

Thank goodness Halloween isn't a popular holiday here! But I wouldn't mind lots of pumpkin soup.

This surprisingly works so well in monochrome. I never realized some pumpkins had patterned skin like other squash varieties.

  8. OOoooooOOoo spooky in B&W. Not really but it is that time of year. MB

    Nice contrast

Excellent play of light and dark ... and yes, most times I'm out of my gourd!

  11. Lois Says:

Yep, I'm definitely prepared. I have my decorations out and three big bags of candy to hand out!

  12. Thank you all.....

Linnea W: I understand. If you do happen to go by though do let us know. We're no more than a few minutes off I-5. We could at least take time for a cup of coffee or lunch.

Rob: I wonder, if those Americans do celebrate Halloween where you are would it tend to confuse the locals?

Hilda: Or maybe some pumpkin pie??

Small City Scenes: Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. :-(

Jacob: I think my wife would say that a good share of the time I am too.

    Lois: Good for you!

  13. I wouldn't have thought that gourds would look so good in black and white! Super shot!

  14. cieldequimper: Thank you. I know if I saw one this color at the store I'd pass it up.

  15. I love this photo. it has great textures and patterns. A great fall photo.
