Watery Wednesday - Hali-Butts

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Not your typical Watery Wednesday photo? Well, we couldn't pass this one up. My wife and I found this tile (part of a much larger tiled wall) while walking through downtown Olympia. It may be a bit corny for Watery Wednesday but it is my wife's favorite seafood (which she can't even eat right now while pregnant). Boy, talk about some fish lips!

Works for me! I like halibut too, but I think sole is higher on my list of regular dining pleasure.

I do like the tile. I have seen some similar. I wonder if they are widespread or just local to your area.

When I redid our kitchen and putting up new tile, we visited the tile stores and found some tiles that were the creation of people who happened in the store with ideas sketched on paper that were then translated into tiles and the tiles were then unique to that store and sold to anybody who wanted to buy them.

I left a reponse to your comment about the squirrel sitting on the Irish Moss.

One of the reasons I like to use this is that it is a great way to prevent soil erosion in or on very small landscapes and around stones or stepping stones on curves on hills or inclines. I also use it for the little white blossoms that are favorite foods for some small insects. It would be akin to growing PAW PAW trees to benefit the caterpillars of Zebra Butterflies.

The female Zebra Swallowtail lays its spherical, pale green eggs singly on the Pawpaw (Asimina triloba).

The caterpillar larva(caterpillar) hatches from an egg and eats leaves almost constantly. It is green with one black stripe and many yellow stripes (there is also a darker form of this caterpillar which is black with yellow and white stripes). Larva eat PAWPAW (Asimina triloba). The caterpillar is pea green with yellow and black bands. They are cannibalistic.

My wife doesn't like the idea of the PAW PAW trees as they put out fruit that is fleshy like a banana and filled with seeds. But...

I love tile and this is cute! I couldn't get enough raw oysters back when I was expecting my daughter 30 years ago. Now I'm scared to eat them and I'm not even pregnant.

Pretty cute. I think you took this photo just for the hal-i-but.

PS - Gators aren't really a problem ... just don't do stupid things like try to get close or go swimming where you see them in the water...

Ymmm. I love halibut too. Cute tile...very 'Finding Nemo-esque'.

  8. That's lovely! And halibut is scrumptious!

  9. Thanks everyone. You'll have to check out today's post of the entire tiled section. I didn't want to be labeled a tease for just showing you the one tile. :-)

I don't think it's at all corny for WW. I like it!

  11. Too cute. MB
