It's still in the "setting-up" stage right now, but in a few days this area around Capitol Lake is going to be packed with people. Every year in July Capital Lakefair happens. Five days of fun including food, rides, boat races, a car show, a parade, fireworks & more. So, if you happen to be in the area between July 15th through the 19th come check out the happenings.
Looks like fun and like Lois said, if nothing else you should find photo ops. By the way, if you haven't been past Charles Wright for a long time, you won't recognize it. The old lower school was demolished and replaced by a new elementary school about three or four years ago. The middle school building is about 10 - 12 years old, so you may have seen that. The new lower school connects to the middle school by a breezeway. The upper school is unrecognizable in large part, even to my youngest who graduated from there in 2006.
Meri: Boy, it HAS been a long time since I've been by there. Thanks for the update. I guess I thought that the old building would have been historic enough to save.
Lois: Oh, my trusty Nikon will be right there with us. ;-)
If I were you I would tell your local newspaper about you taking photos of this event for distribution on the Internet. I think they would get you some coverage and make yourself a kind of local celebrity.
It won't hurt to get some neat photos of the event for your blog and let the rest of us see what happened. I am looking forward to this.
Thank you very much for visiting my Our Flower Pot and for the comment you left me there. Our Flower Pot
This is our first blog, a daily (whenever possible) photo blog of our state capitol and surrounding area. Most photos were taken by me, however my wife will sneak one in from time to time.
Have fun. Don't fall in the lake.
this looks like the carnival that rides into our town each spring! that starship ride on the left was here in april for sure!
If I were anywhere near, I'd be there right now!
I hope you all have a great time!
I was going to say it looks like a carnival has come to town...but it's more than a carnival.
Hope you have great weather and a good turnout and a lot of fun!
Oh, we'll be there for sure. So far it looks like the weather might be on our side.
Looks like a lot of fun! I'm sure you'll get some good pictures.
